Is it spring yet?

So, I keep hearing all about the groundhog and how we will have an early spring… as the tiniest of snowflakes are falling from the sky. So tiny, I don’t think they even count, really.

But, I did see my little daffodil sprouts starting to peak through the soil this weekend, so there’s hope.

Speaking of spring, here are a few close-up shots of the birdhouse I use in my blog header.

I've created a couple of indoor decor birdhouses in my time, but this is one of my favorites.

Light washes of cream and aqua paint give the little house its character. That was the jumping-off point to refurbish this Old House that was outside our home forever. I just loved the missing roof panel and the rustic nature of the base house.

The addition of a few elements makes it special.

An image transfer on painted pine filled in the missing part of the roofline which I then accented with an old hinge.

Every house needs a key, or two… or three, and vintage keys are a favorite go-to of mine.

One of my cast resin keyhole escutcheon blanks, Pearl, treated with some ombre gradient paint and paper words is the perfect backdrop for the front.

Every doorway needs a focal point to draw in visitors and this brass hardware ring fit the opening like it was meant to be.

How about a BIG, rusty eye bolt for the perch? Perfect touch, I think.

After all was said and done, I added a couple of scrap pieces of wood vertically to either side.

I LOVE IT! I hope you do too.
